Start With a Consultation
There are some initial steps to take before you can achieve your dream baby pink color.
Firstly, if you are a new client, it’s standard practice for your stylist to meet you in person—ideally—48 hours before the service to carry out a skin test to make sure you are not allergic to any of the colors being used. During the consultation, a few more tests will take place, such as a porosity and strand test, to see if your hair is suitable for the recommended color applications.
Don’t worry; your trusted stylist will take care of all this, allowing you to focus on being inspired by browsing through some fun hair colors. If you have any specific looks in mind, bring them to your consultation or pin/save them on your socials.
Preparing for Your Transformation
The perfect shade of baby pink needs to suit your skin tone, existing hair color, hair type, and of course your personality! The color, placement, and chosen techniques can be customized to achieve a bespoke bold or natural new look.
To achieve a on trend pastel or soft baby pink color, the hair must be at least a natural level 8 or already be lightened. As a general guide, the lighter the shade of pink desired, the lighter the hair should be. A baby pink color is best suited on a level 9/10. If you already have existing bleach blonde hair—congratulations—you are the perfect candidate! If you have darker hair but still want to go pink, consider a warmer version. Choosing the Perfect Shade
If you are already a natural or Pre-lightened blonde and happy with your current color placement and look and would just like to try a new fashion tone. Your stylist will help you decide during a thorough consultation if this route is advised, then you could be walking out of the salon with an exciting new look within the hour!
For a soft baby pink color, we recommend 053 Iced Rose by Nutri Color™ Filters Metal-Ice Filters, which will give you a high end super glossy finish with a bit of edge.
For a deeper pink, the direct semi permanent tone .523 Antique Rose by Revlonissimo Colorsmetique™ can be applied on top of existing blonde to switch up your current look. This bespoke new pink tone will fade to a softer baby pink color after a few washes.
Coloring Process
If your hair is darker and you’re happy to have a full color transformation such as Balayage, highlights, Scandinavian blonde, or pretty much any technique that will pre-lighten your hair to a level 8/9, then this is the option for you. Once the placement is chosen and the hair has the perfect undertone, your stylist will apply a toner to neutralize any unwanted warmth. This step is crucial to remove any traces of yellow or orange tones, which could affect the baby pink color and result in a color correction. Once the perfect undertone is achieved, the desired pink tone will be applied. It’s common to have a three-step color process when opting for a brand new look, so come prepared for a longer appointment.
Don’t let the color process or timings put you off. Once your initial color step is completed, maintaining your brand new baby pink hair color is relatively simple and quick with the correct aftercare.
Tips for Achieving the Perfect Shade
Remember, to achieve any of these pink shades, the hair must always be lightened beforehand. This applies to both light pink and dark pink hair. If you try to dye natural hair pink without lightening it first, you will not get the desired color, especially for pastel pinks. Lightening the hair first ensures that the pink color comes out as bright and beautiful as possible. The lighter the shade of pink, the lighter the hair should be. The great thing about this tone is that it will still look fabulous even as it starts to fade.

Maintenance and Care Tips
To maintain your stunning baby pink hair, follow these tips:
- Use Specialized Products: Choose shampoos, conditioners, and care and styling products designed for color-treated hair, like the RE/START™ Color range. These products are gentle and help keep your color vibrant.
- Cool Water Rinse: Wash your hair with lukewarm or cool water. Hot water can strip the color and cause it to fade faster. After conditioning, a final rinse with cool water can help seal your hair cuticles and retain moisture.
- Heat Protection: Limit the use of heat styling tools. When you do use them, always apply a heat protectant like RE/START Balayage Hair Care Cream. Excessive heat can damage your hair and speed up color fading.
- Shield from UV Rays: Protect your hair from UV rays by using products with UV protection when you’re outside. Sun exposure can lead to color fading and dryness.
- Deep Conditioning: Regularly use deep conditioning treatments to keep your hair moisturized and healthy. Products like the RE/START™ Color Protective Jelly Mask are excellent for maintaining moisture and color vibrancy.
- Schedule Regular Touch-Ups: Keep your color looking fresh with regular touch-up appointments. This will address any root regrowth and prevent fading. You can either go to the salon for a color top up or you can refresh your pink at home with Nutri Color™ Filters Mixing Filters: Blush
